Tilmann Lührig has special industry knowledge in IT, eCommerce and Internet platforms, cosmetics and consumer goods, real estate, and energy as well as advertising agencies and public relations. Tilmann Lührig advises start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises, and international corporations in developing, managing, exploiting, and enforcing their portfolio of intellectual property rights. Together with the clients, he develops strategies to protect the patents, utility models, trademarks, designs, company and domain names, know-how of his clients and assists them in exploiting their rights through drafting and negotiating license agreements and reviewing advertising activities.
Tilmann Lührig conducts global trademark clearances and represents clients in prosecution matters before the German Patent and Trademark Office (Deutsches Patent- und Markenamt – DPMA), the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). He has extensive experience in representing clients in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the DPMA, the German Federal Patent Court, the EUIPO, the European General Court (EGC), and the European Court of Justice (ECJ).
Tilmann Lührig also advises and represents clients in counterfeit matters (including customs enforcement of IP rights) and has many years of experience in the enforcement of IP rights in preliminary injunction and main proceedings before regional and higher regional courts as well as in domain name disputes before the relevant institutions.
In the areas of IT and data protection law, Tilmann Lührig has been consulting and representing both principals and providers in the drafting, negotiation, and enforcement of all types of IT contracts for more than a decade. He specialises in providing legal support for complex IT and outsourcing projects. In the area of data protection law, he advises on the data protection-compliant organisation of companies and the drafting of data protection agreements.
Tilmann Lührig is a member of the German Association for Intellectual Property Law (GRUR) and the International Trademark Association (INTA), where he was elected to serve on the Law Firm Committee (Technology Subcommittee) for 2018–2021 and on the Trademark Office Practices Committee for 2022–2025.
